Spelling practice, made from their own words

Type this week's spelling words and pick a stage. We turn them into a trip with their favourite animal: six practice stops, then name games (a secret message cracked with their words, a word search with their name hidden, story sentences to finish), and a certificate at the end.

1. Who is this for?

Questions

Which stage should I pick?
First words suits children starting to read and write (short words, with pictures and tracing). Spelling words suits the lists children bring home in their first school years. Tricky words suits longer words and older children. The ages are only a guide: the pages never show an age.
Can I use the words from school?
Yes, that's what it's for. Type or paste this week's list (up to 12 words), and give it a name like "Week 3".
What is a "set"?
Each pack is one list of words for one child. Set 1 is ready straight away; for more practice with the same words, print set 2: new puzzles, a new secret message, new mixed-up words and a new trip, each with its own answers.
Is there a black and white version?
Yes, with every pack: pictures in outline to colour, and much less ink.
What do you keep about my child?
Their first name and favourite animal, with the list of words. You can delete a saved child any time in My Printables.
Is it free for members?
Yes: members make spelling packs for every list, every week, at no extra cost.
