Republic Day Worksheets (Ages 3–7)
Republic Day worksheets are printable activity sheets for children aged 3 to 7 based on India's 26 January celebrations. They include colouring the tricolour flag and the Ashoka Chakra, counting parade floats, tracing flag and chakra outlines, matching national symbols to their names, and completing patriotic patterns, building colour recognition, counting, tracing and matching skills.
Republic Day falls on Tuesday, 26 January 2027, soon after the winter break, when Nursery through Class 1 classrooms use a parade or flag-hoisting theme to restart the term. A four-year-old colours the Ashoka Chakra's spokes one at a time, practising both colouring control and simple counting; a seven-year-old counts a row of marching figures or tricolour floats in a parade scene. Unlike Independence Day's freedom-story framing, Republic Day worksheets on this page lean on the parade, the chakra and the constitution booklet as fresh subjects, so the two national-day hubs do not repeat the same pictures.

What children learn through Republic Day worksheets
Republic Day worksheets use the tricolour flag, the Ashoka Chakra and parade scenes as the subject for colour recognition, counting and tracing: a three- to five-year-old colours a flag or chakra outline in the correct colours, while a six- or seven-year-old counts parade floats or traces the 24 spokes of the chakra. Matching sheets pair national symbols with their printed names.
- Colouring the tricolour flag and the Ashoka Chakra correctly
- Counting parade floats, flags or marching figures in a scene
- Tracing chakra spokes and flag outlines
- Matching national symbols to their printed names
What to prepare a week before Republic Day
Print a mixed set of colouring, counting and tracing sheets before 26 January so a child has a flag or chakra colouring sheet ready for the classroom's parade-themed assembly or a home activity on the holiday itself. Keep saffron, white, green and navy crayons together with the printed pack so the chakra's colour is correct without guessing.
- Print 4–5 sheets across colouring, counting and tracing
- Stock saffron, white, green and navy crayons with the printed pack
- Practise counting the chakra spokes a few days before the assembly
- Keep one parade-counting sheet aside for an older child
Frequently asked questions
What age are Republic Day worksheets for?
Republic Day worksheets on this page suit children aged 3 to 7, roughly Nursery through Class 1 in Indian schools. Three- and four-year-olds do best with flag and chakra colouring sheets, while five- to seven-year-olds are ready for parade counting, chakra tracing and symbol-matching sheets that suit the UKG and Class 1 level.
What should a child know about Republic Day by age 6?
By age 6, in Class 1, most children can explain in simple terms that Republic Day marks the day India's constitution came into effect, recognise the Ashoka Chakra and the tricolour, and count a row of objects such as parade floats accurately to 20. Republic Day worksheets on this page check the counting and recognition parts of this.
What is the difference between Independence Day and Republic Day worksheets?
Independence Day worksheets on this page focus on the flag and India's freedom in 1947, while Republic Day worksheets focus on the Ashoka Chakra, the parade and the constitution coming into effect on 26 January 1950. Both use the tricolour, but the pictures, chakra spokes and parade floats here versus the freedom-story map there, are different.
When should Republic Day worksheet practice start?
Starting a week before 26 January gives a child two or three short sessions to practise flag or chakra colouring and, for older children, chakra-spoke tracing, without rushing it the night before the school assembly. One short sheet every other day in that week is enough for most children aged 3 to 7.
Are the Republic Day worksheets free to download?
Yes. Every Republic Day worksheet and printable pack can be downloaded free as a watermarked PDF after creating an account, with five downloads a day. An annual subscription removes the watermark and the daily limit across these sheets, printable packs and the rest of the 1,000+ worksheet library.
