Matchsticks and Letter Sums: Move One Stick and Crack the Cryptarithm
Children fix four wrong matchstick sums by moving one stick, then crack three letter sums in which each letter hides a different digit and the same letter is always the same digit. Tips such as 'a new first digit can only be 1' help them reason, not guess.

How to use this worksheet
Use lolly sticks, never real matches. Make each wrong sum, move one stick and write the new sum. In the letter sums, test a digit for each letter and check every column.
