Children learn a symbol cipher that is hundreds of years old. They make a decoder card with four grids, read the Academy motto and two other messages, then write a secret message in pigpen symbols for a grown-up to crack.

Cut out the decoder card. Find each symbol on the card and write its letter in the box beneath. Then encode your own name and a secret note, and hide it for a grown-up.
