How to use this worksheet
Point out the two parts of the dotted letter P, the tall straight line and the small curve at the top, and demonstrate tracing the line first, then the curve without lifting the pencil between them if possible. Have your child trace several guided Ps, then move to the blank lines to practice writing the letter independently. Finish by coloring any pictures on the worksheet and naming them together.

Tips for parents and teachers
Some children draw the loop of the P too large, making it look more like a lowercase b or a different letter entirely, so it helps to point out that the loop should stay in the top half of the line. If the straight line comes out shaky, let them practice straight vertical lines separately before combining it with the curve. Keep sound practice playful, since popping sounds like bubble wrap make the /p/ sound easy to remember.
