Spring Sudoku Worksheet: Cut and Paste Puzzle for Kids
Placing cut-out pictures into a sudoku-style grid so that no image repeats in any row, column, or box teaches children ages 4-6 early logical reasoning and systematic thinking, since they must check multiple directions before deciding where each piece belongs. Cutting out the small picture squares beforehand also builds scissor control and hand-eye coordination. How to use this worksheet
Have your child cut out each small picture from the bottom of the page along the dotted lines, keeping the pieces sorted in a pile. Look at one sudoku grid together and identify which pictures are already filled in for each row, column, and smaller box. Ask your child to find a picture that hasn't been used yet in that row or column, and glue it into an empty square, checking that it doesn't repeat anywhere nearby. Continue square by square until every grid is filled, encouraging your child to double-check each row and column before moving on.

- 1Make a simple 2x2 or 3x3 sudoku using household objects like buttons, spoons, and toy cars.
- 2Play a matching game sorting the leftover picture cutouts by category, like flowers versus bugs.

- 4Draw a blank sudoku grid and challenge a sibling or friend to fill it in using drawings instead of cutouts.
- 5Talk through the reasoning out loud together, like 'this row already has a bee, so it can't go here again.'
