Trace and Write the Letter N Worksheet for Preschoolers

How to use this worksheet

Point to the dotted letter N and show your child the order of strokes: down the first vertical line, diagonally across to the bottom of the second, then up the second vertical line. Have them trace several guided Ns, saying 'down, across, up' as they go to reinforce the stroke order. Once they've traced the guided letters, let them try writing N independently on the blank lines, then color any pictures on the page.

Extension activities

• 1Find objects that start with N, like a nest or a net, and say 'N is for...' with each one.
• 2Practice writing N in a tray of sand or rice, saying the stroke order out loud each time.
• 3Use craft sticks to build the letter N on a table, laying out each of the three strokes.
• 4Look for a bird's nest picture in a book and talk about the /n/ sound at the start of 'nest.'
