CVCC Word Matching Worksheet: Read and Match!
This worksheet gives children ages 4-5 practice reading CVCC words — words like 'lamp' or 'nest' that end in two consonants — and matching them to the correct picture. Ending blends are often harder than beginning blends because young readers tend to rush through the last sounds of a word, so this worksheet specifically trains them to listen all the way to the end. How to use this worksheet
Have your child read each word slowly, sounding out the vowel and then carefully blending the two ending consonants rather than skipping ahead. Ask them to look at the pictures and find the one that matches the word they just decoded. Once they've found the match, have them draw a line from the picture to the word. Go through all the words this way, then reread the full list together at a normal pace.
