Finger Paint Fun: Create a Colorful Tree Worksheet for Kids
Dabbing paint with a fingertip to create leaves gives children ages 3-5 controlled practice in applying just the right amount of pressure — too light and nothing shows, too hard and the print smears — which builds the same pressure control needed later for writing. Sticking cotton balls onto the cloud shapes adds a second, different fine motor challenge (pinching and placing) and introduces a simple seasonal or weather theme to talk about.

How to use this worksheet
Pour a small amount of finger paint onto a plate or tray so your child can dip just their fingertip. Guide them to press a fingertip onto the tree's branches to make leaf prints, refilling paint as needed and using more than one color if you like. Once the paint is dry, or on the cotton ball step if doing it separately, have your child dab a little glue onto each cloud outline and press cotton balls into place. Let everything dry flat before displaying the picture.

- 1Go outside and look at real tree branches, noticing how leaves cluster together.
- 2Make a set of handprint or fingerprint trees for each season and compare them.

- 5Mix two paint colors together on a plate and predict what new color will appear.
