Cut and Match Worksheet: Fun Matching Activity for Kids
This general cut-and-match activity has children ages 3-5 cut out individual cards or pieces and then figure out which ones go together, combining scissor control with visual matching and comparison skills. Because the matching pairs aren't pre-arranged the way they are in a simple line-tracing matching worksheet, your child also has to search and compare across all the pieces, a slightly more demanding visual task.
Curriculum
How to use this worksheet
Cut out all the cards or pieces with your child first, laying them out on the table once finished so every piece is visible. Ask your child to look for pairs that go together, whether by picture, color, or shape, and set matched pairs aside as they find them. Once all the pairs are found, glue each matched set together or side by side on a blank sheet. Review the finished matches together, naming what makes each pair go together.

If your child struggles, narrow the search by setting out just a few pairs at a time rather than the whole set at once. Celebrate the finding process, not just the correct pairs, since scanning and comparing is the real skill being built.
