My Summer Vacation Worksheet: Write and Draw About Your Fun!
This worksheet has children ages 4-6 write about their own summer vacation and draw a picture to match, practicing personal narrative writing, one of the earliest and most motivating forms of writing since it draws on a child's real memories rather than an assigned topic. Because children are describing something they actually experienced, this task builds both sentence-forming skills and the confidence that comes from writing about a subject they already know well. Pairing the writing with a drawing also lets children who aren't yet strong writers still fully express their ideas.

How to use this worksheet
Talk with your child about their summer vacation before they start writing, asking questions like what they did, where they went, or who they were with, to help them gather their thoughts. Have your child write about their summer vacation on the lines provided, sounding out words as needed and using inventive spelling where appropriate for their age. Once the writing is finished, have them draw a picture in the box provided that shows what they did, adding color with crayons if they'd like.
