Summer Colors Worksheet: Roll the Dice and Color!
This worksheet turns color recognition into a game for children ages 3-5, who roll a die and then color part of a summer picture based on a color chart that assigns a color to each number. Beyond simply recognizing colors, children practice matching a rolled numeral to its position on a chart and following a multi-step instruction, both important readiness skills before formal schoolwork. How to use this worksheet
Show your child the color chart at the bottom of the page and read through it together, pointing out which number corresponds to which color. Have your child roll the dice and find the matching color on the chart, then color in one section of the summer picture with that color. Repeat the roll-and-color process until the whole picture is filled in, checking the chart together each time to keep the color choices accurate.

Extension activities
- 1Make your own color chart with a different set of colors and numbers, and create a new coloring page to go with it.
- 2Play a simple board game together that uses dice, to build extra familiarity with recognizing dot patterns and numbers.
- 3Sort crayons or colored blocks by color and count how many of each color you have.
- 4Take turns rolling the dice and naming the color before coloring, so your child practices speaking the color name aloud.
