Shape Elves Worksheet: Cut, Paste, and Create!
Cutting out circles, triangles, and rectangles to assemble an elf face teaches children ages 3-5 to recognize and name basic 2D shapes while practicing scissor control along both straight and curved lines. Because each shape has to go in a specific spot to form a recognizable face, children also build spatial reasoning as they figure out which shape works as eyes, a nose, or a hat. Turning geometry into a craft project makes an abstract math concept feel like creative play.

How to use this worksheet
Have your child color the shape pieces at the bottom of the page first, if they aren't already colored, before cutting them out along the dotted lines. Look at the blank elf face together and talk about which shape might work best for each part, like a triangle for a hat or circles for eyes. Glue each shape into place on the elf outline, checking the example picture if one is provided as a guide. Once the face is complete, name each shape used out loud as a final review.

Extension activities
- 1Build a second elf face from scratch using only shapes your child draws and cuts themselves.
