How to use this worksheet
Look at all the pictures on the page together, naming each one so your child knows what they're looking at before starting. Ask your child to think about what makes an animal a bird, such as having feathers, wings, or a beak, and use those features as clues while scanning the page. Have your child circle each picture that shows a bird, skipping over other animals or objects that don't fit. Once finished, move to the bird craft activity, using kitchen items like bread or vegetables to creatively construct a bird shape together.

Extension activities
- 1Go outside or look out a window together to spot and identify any real birds nearby.
- 2Set up a simple bird feeder at home and observe which birds visit over the following days.

- 4Look through a picture book about birds and name as many different types as you can find.
- 5Research one bird your child finds particularly interesting and learn a fun fact about it together.
