Letter 'a' Tracing Worksheet: Practice Uppercase and Lowercase!
As the very first letter of the alphabet, lowercase a has a slightly tricky shape — a small circle with a short vertical line on the right — that looks quite different from its capital A counterpart, so tracing both forms together helps children notice that the same letter can look two different ways. Repeating this motion at ages 3-5 builds the curved-stroke control that many other lowercase letters, like d, g, and q, also depend on.

How to use this worksheet
Point out the dotted uppercase A and lowercase a at the top of the page and talk about how different they look even though they're the 'same' letter. Have your child trace the dotted letters slowly, several times each, following the starting points shown. Move to the blank practice lines and let them try writing A and a independently. Wrap up by naming a couple of words that start with a, like apple or ant.
