Letter X Tracing Worksheet for Preschoolers
X is formed by two diagonal lines crossing in the middle, which asks preschoolers to plan where a second line should intersect a first one already on the page — a genuinely different motor challenge from letters built with parallel or connected strokes. Because very few common English words start with X, this worksheet also gives a natural opening to talk about letter sounds appearing in the middle or end of words, like 'box' or 'fox'.

How to use this worksheet
Trace the dotted X with a finger first, drawing one diagonal line and then the second crossing over it, so your child sees how the two strokes meet in the middle. Have them trace the dotted letters on the page with a pencil, then repeat the process on each additional line provided. Since X rarely starts everyday words, point out a few words that end in or contain the X sound instead, like fox, box, or six. Let your child color any pictures on the page once the tracing is done.
