Letter a-z Practice Sheet: Handwriting Worksheet for Preschoolers
Practicing all 26 lowercase letters in one sitting builds the repeated, controlled pencil strokes that handwriting depends on, and doing them in order helps a 3-5 year old start to notice how letters relate to each other in the alphabet. How to use this worksheet
Rather than working through all 26 letters in one sitting, pick 4-6 letters per session so attention and pencil grip don't fatigue. For each letter, trace the dotted guide two or three times before attempting it freehand on the blank line beside it, saying the letter's name or sound out loud as you write. Circle their best-formed letter in each row so they can see their own progress, rather than marking the weaker attempts.

Tips for parents and teachers
Twenty-six letters in one sitting is a lot for a preschooler — splitting the sheet across several short sessions will get better handwriting than one long, tired session. Check the pencil grip before the letter shape; a tripod grip (thumb, index, middle finger) makes every letter easier to form well.
