Mandala Art Worksheet: Create a Beautiful Design!
This worksheet builds fine motor control and color choice as children fill in a symmetrical mandala design, a repeating pattern radiating out from a central point. For three- to five-year-olds, coloring a mandala introduces an early sense of symmetry and pattern, since the repeating sections encourage children to notice and often repeat color choices around the design.

How to use this worksheet
Look at the mandala design together and point out how the pattern repeats around the center. Give your child crayons or colored pencils and let them choose colors freely, encouraging them to notice the repeating sections as they go. They can follow the example shown on the page for a symmetrical look, or create their own unique color pattern instead. Work section by section around the design until the whole mandala is filled in.

- 1Create an entirely new mandala design freehand on blank paper, starting from a center dot.
- 2Use different patterns, like dots, stripes, or swirls, within each section instead of solid colors.
- 3Look at real-world examples of mandala-like patterns, such as flowers, snowflakes, or spider webs.
- 4Try coloring a second mandala using only two or three colors to explore how a limited palette changes the look.
- 5Cut out and display the finished mandala somewhere in the house.
