Parts of a Leaf Worksheet for Preschoolers: Learn and Play!
This hands-on activity teaches children ages 3-5 the parts of a leaf — tip, blade, veins, midrib, petiole, and stem — by having them shape a leaf from playdough while comparing it to a real leaf. Building a physical model alongside a real specimen helps children connect abstract vocabulary to tangible features they can see and touch, which is especially effective for this age group.

How to use this worksheet
Give your child a real leaf and a ball of playdough, and ask them to press and shape the playdough into a similar leaf form. Point out each part on the real leaf together — the pointed tip, the flat blade, the branching veins, the central midrib, and the stalk-like petiole and stem. Have your child press their finger along each part on both the real leaf and their playdough version as you name it. Finish by matching the printed labels on the worksheet to the correct part of the leaf diagram.
