Transportation Fun: Identify Land, Water, and Air Vehicles!
This worksheet helps children ages 3-5 classify different vehicles by where they travel — land, water, or air — building early categorization skills alongside transportation vocabulary. Writing the correct letter (L, W, or A) for each picture requires children to think about a vehicle's purpose and environment, not just recognize what it is, adding a layer of reasoning beyond simple naming.

How to use this worksheet
Look at the first vehicle picture together and talk about where it travels — on roads, on water, or through the sky. Ask your child which letter matches that mode of transport: L for land, W for water, or A for air. Have them write that letter in the box next to the picture. Continue through each vehicle on the page, encouraging your child to explain their reasoning before writing each letter.
Materials needed
- Pencil
- Crayons
Extension activities
- 1Draw your favorite mode of transportation and write a sentence about where it travels.
- 2Create a collage of different vehicles sorted into land, water, and air groups.
- 3Go on a vehicle-spotting walk or drive and count how many land, water, and air vehicles you notice.
- 4Build a simple vehicle out of blocks or recycled materials and describe where it would travel.

Family Words Worksheet: Picture Matching and Word Recognition
Ages 4-6 · Pre-K–KindergartenAges 4-6 · Reception–Year 1Ages 4-6 · LKG–UKGAges 4-6
Children ages 4-6 practice recognizing and reading words from the 'family' word group, like 'candle' becoming 'candle-family' patterns or similar word-family endings, by matching written words to their corresponding pictures. Word family practice builds phonics pattern recognition, helping children read new words faster by spotting familiar chunks within them.
Family Words Worksheet: Picture Matching and Word Recognition
Ages 4-6 · Pre-K–KindergartenAges 4-6 · Reception–Year 1Ages 4-6 · LKG–UKGAges 4-6
This worksheet gives children ages 4-6 another round of practice recognizing family-member vocabulary words, reinforcing the connection between a printed word and the picture it names through both a tick-the-answer step and a cut-and-paste matching step. Repeating this pairing across two different formats on one page helps move these words from recognition with support toward more independent reading.
Flower Power Subtraction Worksheet for Kids
Ages 4-6 · Pre-K–KindergartenAges 4-6 · Reception–Year 1Ages 4-6 · LKG–UKGAges 4-6
This worksheet gives children ages 4-6 hands-on subtraction practice using a flower-themed counting context, asking them to count pictured objects, subtract a given amount, and write the difference in a circle. The visual, countable format helps make subtraction concrete rather than abstract, reinforcing that 'taking away' reduces a group's total in a way children can see and verify by recounting.
Animal Shadow Match Worksheet for Preschoolers
Ages 3-5 · Preschool–Pre-KAges 3-5 · Nursery–ReceptionAges 3-5 · Nursery–LKGAges 3-5
This worksheet builds visual discrimination skills for children ages 3-5 by having them match each animal to its correct silhouette or shadow shape. Because a shadow strips away color and detail, leaving only outline and proportion, this task requires more careful visual analysis than typical picture matching, sharpening the kind of attention to shape and form that supports later letter and word recognition.
Bee's Number Sequence Adventure: Coloring Numbers 0-50!
Ages 4-6 · Pre-K–KindergartenAges 4-6 · Reception–Year 1Ages 4-6 · LKG–UKGAges 4-6
Children ages 4-6 practice counting and recognizing numbers from 0 to 50 in sequence by coloring each number in order to help a bee find its way to the hive, extending number recognition well beyond the smaller ranges typically practiced at this age. Following a long numerical sequence builds persistence and reinforces counting patterns like the teens, twenties, and thirties.
Size Sorting Worksheet: Big vs. Small!
Ages 3-5 · Preschool–Pre-KAges 3-5 · Nursery–ReceptionAges 3-5 · Nursery–LKGAges 3-5
Deciding whether a cut-out picture is big or small and gluing it into the correct jar builds comparative reasoning for children ages 3-5, an early step toward understanding relative size before moving into formal measurement.
Color Sorting Worksheet: Cut and Paste the Pictures!
Ages 3-5 · Preschool–Pre-KAges 3-5 · Nursery–ReceptionAges 3-5 · Nursery–LKGAges 3-5
This worksheet helps children ages 3-5 practice color recognition and sorting by cutting out pictures and gluing each one into the row matching its color. Physically sorting objects by a single shared attribute, like color, builds early categorization skills, while the cutting and gluing strengthens fine motor coordination needed for more complex craft and writing tasks later on.
Match the Letter: N, O, P Worksheet for Preschoolers
Ages 3-5 · Preschool–Pre-KAges 3-5 · Nursery–ReceptionAges 3-5 · Nursery–LKGAges 3-5
Drawing a line from an uppercase letter to a picture that starts with the same sound reinforces letter-sound correspondence for children ages 3-5, connecting the shape of N, O, and P to their spoken sounds.

Transport Worksheet: Circle and Count the Transport Items!
Ages 3-5 · Preschool–Pre-KAges 3-5 · Nursery–ReceptionAges 3-5 · Nursery–LKGAges 3-5
This worksheet combines two skills for children ages 3-5: visually identifying which pictures represent transportation versus other objects, and then counting a separate group of transport items and recording the total as a number. Circling only the correct category first requires categorization and attention to detail, while the counting section that follows builds one-to-one correspondence with a real-world, kid-friendly theme that most children find naturally engaging. Vehicles are also a great vocabulary-building topic, since children often already know many transport names from daily life.
Train Engine Craft: Cut and Paste Worksheet for Preschoolers
Ages 3-5 · Preschool–Pre-KAges 3-5 · Nursery–ReceptionAges 3-5 · Nursery–LKGAges 3-5
Children ages 3-5 practice following a multi-step visual sequence and build fine motor precision as they cut out individual shapes and assemble them into a complete train engine picture. Beyond cutting and gluing practice, this craft introduces basic engineering thinking — understanding how separate parts combine to form one recognizable whole.
School Bus Coloring and Cutting Worksheet for Preschoolers
Ages 3-5 · Preschool–Pre-KAges 3-5 · Nursery–ReceptionAges 3-5 · Nursery–LKGAges 3-5
Coloring, cutting, and assembling a school bus gives children ages 3-5 practice with precise scissor control, since cutting small shapes like windows and wheels demands more accuracy than cutting along a straight edge. The activity also introduces a familiar, comforting topic — the school bus — which can help ease transportation-related anxieties for children starting or continuing school.
Odd One Out: Transportation Worksheet for Kids
Ages 3-5 · Preschool–Pre-KAges 3-5 · Nursery–ReceptionAges 3-5 · Nursery–LKGAges 3-5
This worksheet sharpens visual discrimination and categorization skills as children ages 3-5 study a row of transportation pictures and identify the one that doesn't belong with the others, then replace it with a correct match cut from the bottom of the page. Explaining why an item is the 'odd one out' builds early critical-thinking and reasoning skills that go beyond simple picture recognition.
Transport Worksheet: Cut and Paste the Correct Mode of Transport!
Ages 4-6 · Pre-K–KindergartenAges 4-6 · Reception–Year 1Ages 4-6 · LKG–UKGAges 4-6
Reading a sentence and choosing the correct vehicle to complete it teaches children ages 4-6 to use context clues from text to guide a decision, an early reading comprehension skill that goes beyond simple word recognition. The cutting and pasting also reinforces vocabulary for different modes of transportation as children physically match each picture to its described purpose.
Transport Cut and Paste Worksheet for Preschoolers
Ages 3-5 · Preschool–Pre-KAges 3-5 · Nursery–ReceptionAges 3-5 · Nursery–LKGAges 3-5
This cut-and-paste worksheet asks children ages 3-5 to sort vehicle pictures into air, water, and land categories, building classification skills alongside scissor control and glue placement. Sorting by transport type is an early exercise in the broader thinking skill of grouping objects by a shared property, which underlies later science and math reasoning.
Transportation Worksheet: Match the Vehicles! (Ages 3-5)
Ages 3-5 · Preschool–Pre-KAges 3-5 · Nursery–ReceptionAges 3-5 · Nursery–LKGAges 3-5
This worksheet asks children ages 3-5 to sort vehicles into four transportation categories — road, track, air, and water — which builds classification skills beyond simple pairs. Because kids must decide which of four groups a vehicle belongs to instead of just two, it stretches their reasoning a level further than basic matching. It also grows vocabulary around trains and tracks, a category many transportation worksheets skip.
Color the Transportation Worksheet for Kids
Ages 3-5 · Preschool–Pre-KAges 3-5 · Nursery–ReceptionAges 3-5 · Nursery–LKGAges 3-5
Coloring vehicles that travel by air, land, and water helps children ages 3-5 build an early classification system for how transportation is grouped by environment, not just by shape or size. Naming where each vehicle travels while coloring also reinforces vocabulary and observation skills, since children must look closely at each picture's features to decide its category.
