How to use this worksheet
Read each incomplete sentence aloud with your child before looking at the conjunction word bank, so they first predict what kind of connecting word might fit. Guide them to try each option from the box in the blank space, reading the sentence with each choice to hear which one makes sense. Once they've chosen the correct conjunction, have your child write it neatly in the blank. Move through the remaining sentences the same way, and read every completed sentence aloud together at the end to check the whole page makes sense.

- 1Ask your child to invent one brand-new sentence for each conjunction in the word bank, using their own ideas.
- 2Turn it into a game by covering the word bank and seeing if your child can suggest a conjunction from memory first.
- 3Illustrate one completed sentence, drawing a picture that shows both parts of the connected idea.
- 4Look through a favorite storybook together and count how many times each conjunction appears.
- 5Practice orally by giving your child two simple ideas, like 'I was tired' and 'I kept playing,' and asking them to join them with a conjunction.
