I Spy Triangles Worksheet: Find and Color!
This 'I Spy' style worksheet trains children ages 3-5 to visually pick out triangles hidden within a busier picture, building the visual discrimination skill of recognizing a specific shape by its defining feature — three straight sides and three corners — even when it's surrounded by other shapes or details. This kind of active shape-hunting goes beyond simple shape naming to real visual search practice.

How to use this worksheet
Before starting, ask your child to describe what makes a triangle a triangle — three sides, three corners. Have them scan the picture carefully, pointing to each triangle they spot. Once a triangle is found, have your child color it in, working through the whole picture until every triangle has been found and colored. Count the total number of triangles together at the end.
Materials needed
- Pencil
- Crayons
Extension activities
- 1Go on a triangle hunt around the house, spotting triangular shapes in roof lines, sandwich halves, or a slice of pizza.
- 2Use toothpicks or straws to build several triangles of different sizes.
- 3Draw a simple picture using only triangles, like a fish, a tree, or a mountain range.
- 4Compare a triangle to a square or circle and talk about what makes each one different.
- 5Fold a square piece of paper in half diagonally to reveal a triangle, and talk about the fold line.

Shape Sudoku: Complete the Puzzles!
Ages 4-6 · Pre-K–KindergartenAges 4-6 · Reception–Year 1Ages 4-6 · LKG–UKGAges 4-6
This shape-based Sudoku worksheet challenges children ages 4-6 to apply logical reasoning as they fill in missing shapes so that each row, column, and smaller grid section contains every shape exactly once. Unlike simple shape naming, Sudoku requires children to track multiple constraints at the same time and use process of elimination, an early and valuable introduction to structured logical thinking. Successfully completing even a simplified shape Sudoku builds real confidence in tackling multi-step problems methodically.
Shape Frog Cut and Paste Worksheet for Preschoolers
Ages 3-5 · Preschool–Pre-KAges 3-5 · Nursery–ReceptionAges 3-5 · Nursery–LKGAges 3-5
This worksheet gives children ages 3-5 hands-on practice manipulating basic shapes — like triangles, circles, and squares — to assemble a complete picture of a frog. Building a recognizable animal out of separate geometric shapes helps children see how simple shapes combine to form more complex forms, an early step toward representational drawing and spatial construction. Cutting and precisely placing each shape piece also strengthens fine motor coordination.
Shape Sorting Fun: Cut and Paste Worksheet for Preschoolers
Ages 3-5 · Preschool–Pre-KAges 3-5 · Nursery–ReceptionAges 3-5 · Nursery–LKGAges 3-5
This cut-and-paste worksheet helps children ages 3-5 practice visually matching real-world objects to their underlying geometric shape, specifically distinguishing circles from ovals. Learning to see the circle or oval 'hiding' inside everyday objects, like a clock or an egg, builds the shape-recognition foundation that supports later geometry and spatial reasoning. Cutting and gluing each piece also strengthens fine motor precision.
Connect the Dots: Hidden Shape Worksheet for Kids
Ages 3-5 · Preschool–Pre-KAges 3-5 · Nursery–ReceptionAges 3-5 · Nursery–LKGAges 3-5
Children ages 3-5 practice counting in sequence and fine motor line control as they connect numbered dots in order to reveal a hidden shape, combining numeracy with hand-eye coordination in one satisfying activity. The surprise of a shape emerging only once every dot is connected correctly also motivates children to stay careful and accurate rather than rushing through the numbers.
Shape Bingo Worksheet: Cut and Identify Shapes!
Ages 3-5 · Preschool–Pre-KAges 3-5 · Nursery–ReceptionAges 3-5 · Nursery–LKGAges 3-5
This worksheet turns shape recognition into a bingo-style game for children ages 3-5, asking them to cut out shapes and match them to identical shapes on a bingo board. The bingo format adds a playful, goal-oriented structure to shape practice, motivating children to scan carefully for stars, circles, triangles, and hearts. Calling out each shape name as it's matched also builds verbal shape vocabulary alongside visual recognition.
Shape Matching Worksheet for Preschoolers
Ages 3-5 · Preschool–Pre-KAges 3-5 · Nursery–ReceptionAges 3-5 · Nursery–LKGAges 3-5
This worksheet helps children ages 3-5 practice recognizing basic geometric shapes by connecting each shape outline to the everyday object it resembles. Pairing an abstract shape with a concrete object supports the transition from recognizing shapes in isolation to spotting them out in the real world. Drawing a connecting line between the matched pairs also builds hand-eye coordination and pencil control.
Rocket Shapes Cut and Glue Worksheet for Preschoolers
Ages 3-5 · Preschool–Pre-KAges 3-5 · Nursery–ReceptionAges 3-5 · Nursery–LKGAges 3-5
Cutting out triangles, circles, and rectangles and gluing them into place to build a rocket teaches children ages 3-5 to recognize basic 2D shapes and understand how they combine to form a larger, recognizable object. This activity strengthens scissor control along straight and curved edges while also introducing early engineering thinking, since children must consider how each shape's position contributes to the finished rocket's structure. Framing shape practice as a space-themed craft project keeps a repetitive geometry lesson feeling exciting and imaginative.
Shape Matching Worksheet for Preschoolers
Ages 3-5 · Preschool–Pre-KAges 3-5 · Nursery–ReceptionAges 3-5 · Nursery–LKGAges 3-5
This worksheet strengthens shape recognition for children ages 3-5 by asking them to connect abstract shape outlines to the real-world objects that share that same shape. Recognizing that a shape like a circle or rectangle can apply to very different objects, such as a clock and a door, helps children generalize shape concepts beyond a single example. Drawing the connecting line between matched pairs also reinforces visual tracking and pencil control.
