Grade 1 / Class 1 counting worksheets are practice sheets for children aged 6–7. Counting is matching a spoken number word to each object in a group, one at a time, to find out how many there are in total. The sheets on this page cover one-to-one correspondence, counting a set of objects accurately and matching a numeral to a quantity.
Grade 1, known as Class 1 in India and Year 2 in the UK, is where a child works through a full page independently: place value with tens and ones, addition and subtraction within 20, and short reading passages followed by comprehension questions replace picture-supported counting sheets. By six to seven, counting is a tool for bigger numbers rather than a skill on its own: skip counting by twos, fives and tens well past 100, counting backwards from any given number, and counting a large group by organizing it into groups of ten first.
