Phonics Level 1 Activity Book: Letter Sounds, Blending & CVC Words for Preschool & Kindergarten

Phonics Level 1 is a printable activity book for children aged 3 to 6 (preschool, kindergarten, LKG and UKG) who are starting to read. It has 62 pages: a cover with a contents list, a two-page parent's guide, three sound mats, 54 activity pages, a certificate of achievement and an answer key for grown-ups.

The pages follow a clear order. Children first say and match the sounds s, a, t, i, p and n, blend them into words on Read & Reveal fold-over pages and find hidden s a t p i n words. Short vowel pages for e, o and u and consonant pages for m, b, d, g, f, h, j, k, l, r, v, w, y and z show the mouth shape for each sound, with pictures to match and words to read.

Next come 16 CVC word families: at, am, an, ad, ag, ap, it, in, ip, id, ig, en, et, un, ot and ut. Children read each word sound by sound, cut and fold to reveal the picture, then read, colour and match. Secret Words pages use first sounds to spell a hidden word, and the review pages (Match, First Letter Sound, Match and Write, Write My Sound, Circle the Picture, Letter Sound) mix everything together.

The parent's guide explains what phonics is, what Level 1 covers and how to help at home: little and often, letter sounds rather than letter names, and pure, short sounds. The sound mats show every sound in English with example words. Use the pages at home, in the classroom or for homeschool phonics, print only the pages you need, and finish with the certificate. Level 2 moves on to consonant blends and digraphs.
