Tense Time! Cut and Paste the Verbs Worksheet
Sorting verbs into past, present, and future ice cream scoops teaches 4-6 year olds that verbs physically change form to show when something happens — a foundational grammar concept that often trips kids up because English tense endings are inconsistent (walked, but went, not goed). Because your child has to read each word, decide its tense, and then correctly cut and place it, the worksheet demands genuine comprehension rather than pattern-matching by ending alone, especially where irregular verbs are involved.

How to use this worksheet
Look at the three ice cream scoops together and talk about what each one represents — things that already happened, things happening now, and things that will happen later. Cut out the verb words at the bottom of the page one at a time. For each word, say it in a sentence together — 'yesterday I ___' or 'right now I ___' — to help decide which scoop it belongs on. Glue each word onto its correct scoop, then read all three completed scoops aloud once finished.

Anchor the concept with time words your child already knows: yesterday, now, tomorrow. Having your child say each sentence out loud before writing or gluing reinforces the grammar far more than silent sorting.
