Grade 1 / Class 1 Cutting Practice Worksheets (Ages 6–7)

Not as a separate skill for most children, since holding scissors and following a line are usually secure by now. What still helps is cut-and-paste work, where cutting is the route into a sorting, sequencing, spelling or math task and the child handles the pieces physically. A six-year-old who still struggles to cut a circle benefits from going back to shapes on card and from hand-strengthening play such as squeezing clay.

By six the scissors are mostly under control, so the worksheet's purpose shifts to what is done with the pieces.
