Grade 1 / Class 1 Cutting Practice Worksheets (Ages 6–7)
Grade 1 / Class 1 cutting practice worksheets are practice sheets for children aged 6–7 in Grade 1 in the US and Class 1 in India. Cutting practice is using child scissors to cut along a printed line, straight or curved, to build hand strength and bilateral coordination. The sheets on this page cover scissor grip and control, cutting along a straight line and cutting along a curved line.
Grade 1, known as Class 1 in India and Year 2 in the UK, is where a child works through a full page independently: place value with tens and ones, addition and subtraction within 20, and short reading passages followed by comprehension questions replace picture-supported counting sheets. By six the scissors are mostly under control, so the worksheet's purpose shifts to what is done with the pieces. Cut-and-paste sheets turn spelling, number order, sorting and story sequencing into hands-on work: cut the word cards apart, arrange them, glue them down. Small pieces, tabs and inner corners test precision, and multi-step paper crafts test following written instructions in order.
