KS1 Colouring Worksheets (Ages 5–7)
KS1 colouring worksheets are practice sheets for children aged 5–7 in Key Stage 1 (Years 1–2) in the UK. Colouring is filling a printed outline with colour using a crayon or pencil, practicing pressure control, staying inside a line and naming colours. Is colouring still worthwhile for a five-year-old, or is it just filler?
It is filler only if the page has no task. A plain picture at five passes time; a page with a code does not. Colour by sight word makes the child read a word ten or twenty times in a sitting, colour by sum gives a dozen addition facts without a worksheet feel, and a mystery grid rewards checking row and column. The hand work still matters, because the small controlled strokes are the same ones handwriting uses.
