Grade 1 / Class 1 math worksheets are practice sheets for children aged 6–7 in Grade 1 in the US and Class 1 in India. Math covers number sense, counting, the four basic operations, shapes, measurement and patterns, taught through objects before abstract symbols. Frequently asked questions
My six-year-old still counts on fingers. Should I stop it?
Do not ban fingers; replace them. Counting on from the larger number is the first step, then doubles and near-doubles, then knowing the pairs that make 10. A short daily sheet of ten mixed facts within 20, alongside a ten frame, moves most facts into memory over a few months. Fingers that reappear only on the hard facts are a sign of progress, not a problem.
