Tall and Short Worksheet: Comparing Sizes for Preschoolers
Comparing height is one of the earliest measurement concepts children encounter, and this worksheet asks children ages 3-5 to visually judge which of two objects is taller or shorter without using any numbers or rulers. How to use this worksheet
Look at the first pair of pictures together and ask your child which object looks taller. Have them place a tick mark next to the taller object in that pair. Move to the second set of pictures and repeat the process, this time asking your child to tick the shorter object. Continue through all the pairs on the page, encouraging your child to look closely and compare each time rather than guessing quickly.

Tips for parents and teachers
Encourage your child to explain why they chose each object, since describing what made one look taller or shorter reinforces the comparative vocabulary far more than the tick mark alone. If two objects are close in height, that's a good opportunity to talk about measuring more precisely with a ruler or string, introducing the idea that comparisons aren't always obvious. This helps reinforce their understanding of the concepts in a way that carries over into everyday observations.
